Do you want to write stories that get a higher read-through rate?

Of course, you do! We’re writers, after all. And we want our words to be read.

That’s why you should read your written content out loud.

This is the same reminder I got when I took an online editing course by and .

This advice for writers isn’t anything new. But the problem with us writers is that we get so caught up in our heads.

Thinking of the words. Typing them out on the screen. Re-reading them again in our heads. Scrutinizing over every sentence, word—and comma.

The problem many writers face, without them knowing it, is they don’t know how their articles or blog posts sound to someone else.

And the best way to know how it sounds to someone else is simple. Read your stuff out loud.

Because the first time you hear your newly written piece spoken out loud is the first time you’re hearing it with a different part of your brain.
