All literary journals—especially poetry journals—are crap. Very pretentious. They always hold themselves, above what they actually publish, in high regards.

For this reason alone, I will never submit or let a journal publish my poetry. Even if they paid me and I was starving.

There are other viable routes for aspiring poets to publish. Just look at the Internet and you'll find a dozen ways to get your works out there.

Or look to Rupi Kaur, the #1 poet in the world today. She has never published in a literary journal—and she's sold over 8 million copies of her poetry books worldwide.
